Abdulqadir Jeylani (also spelled Abdul Qadir Gilani) was a renowned Islamic scholar, Sufi mystic, and theologian of the 12th century. He was born in 1077 CE in Gilan, Persia (modern-day Iran) and later settled in Baghdad, where he became a leading spiritual figure.

Key Aspects of His Life and Teachings:

1. Founder of the Qadiriyya Order – One of the oldest and most widespread Sufi orders, emphasizing love, piety, and devotion to God.


2. Scholar and Preacher – He was well-versed in Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith, and theology, and he attracted a large following due to his powerful sermons.


3. Miracles (Karamat) – Many followers believe he performed miracles (karamat), earning him the title Ghaus al-Azam (The Greatest Helper).


4. Spiritual Teachings – He emphasized humility, reliance on God (tawakkul), and purification of the heart to attain divine closeness.


5. Legacy – His books, such as Al-Ghunya li-Talibi Tariq al-Haqq and Futuh al-Ghaib, remain widely read, and his teachings continue to influence millions of Sufis worldwide.



He passed away in 1166 CE in Baghdad, where his shrine remains a significant spiritual site. His legacy continues through the Qadiriyya Sufi order and his inspirational teachings on spirituality and self-discipline.
